October 2022: Letter from the Director
A Season of Events
Last Saturday, our TASTE food and wine-tasting fundraiser welcomed more than 300 people to a beautiful evening in the Good Life Garden. It featured some of the best local and regional wineries, breweries, restaurants, and UC Davis centers and initiatives. Our sold-out event raised $9,000 for the UC Davis Student Farm! We are proud to support their work and encourage you to visit their website to learn more and donate directly.
Thank you to all the attendees, volunteers, vendors, and staff for making TASTE 2022 a success. Watch the highlight video or view the Facebook photo album to see highlights. And save the date for next year's TASTE on October 14, 2023!
The third installment of our video tour series features the Sensory Building at the Robert Mondavi Institute. Sensory science is sometimes a lesser-known discipline at the RMI, and we are proud to share the innovative and state-of-the-art facilities with you. Watch the video to hear from students, faculty, alumni, and staff about why UC Davis is a leader in sensory science.
You can also learn more about the new sensory immersive room (shown in the video) in an article and video produced by the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
Sips and Bites: Exploring Wine Treatments on November 1 sold out quickly. It is hopefully the first in a series of in-depth wine tastings we will host. Thank you to those who have registered and I look forward to your feedback on the event so we can develop the series further.
Finally, we have a variety of upcoming events featured below, including Forum: Learning with Goats, a new collaboration with the University of Notre Dame exploring wine basics called ThinkND, and the Ghvino Wine Forum celebrating 8,000 years of Georgian wine culture co-sponsored by the Center for Wine Economics.
I hope you can join us in person or virtually for our upcoming events!
Sincerely,
Andrew Waterhouse
