This tasting is designed to highlight wines from some of the world’s oldest winemaking regions, where viticulture is deeply intertwined with history, culture, and daily life. By exploring wines from Armenia, Greece, Georgia, and Lebanon, participants will experience a range of traditional and contemporary styles that reflect thousands of years of winemaking heritage. The tasting will place each wine within its historical and cultural context, emphasizing how geography, indigenous grape varieties, and long-standing techniques shape flavor and structure. Food traditions from each region will further enhance the experience, illustrating the close relationship between local cuisine and wine and offering a holistic view of how these ancient wine cultures continue to influence modern winemaking.

Speakers:
Arpa Boghozian is a Ph.D. candidate in the Horticulture and Agronomy graduate group at UC Davis, where she researches grapevine red blotch virus, a significant concern for vineyard health and fruit quality. Her work aims to improve understanding of the disease's impact on grape development through ripening and its effect on grape and wine phenolics. In addition to her research, she is a tour guide at the Robert Mondavi Institute for Food and Wine Science, where she leads educational tours and curates unique and informative wine tastings for visiting guests. With a deep passion for both science and wine, Arpa combines her expertise in viticulture and enology to share the science behind winemaking with visitors, bridging the gap between research and the world of wine.
